Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Xianfa Attends Zambia’s Independence Day Reception

On October 23, 2026, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Xianfa attended the reception hosted by the Embassy of Zambia in China to celebrate Zambia’s Independence Day.

Liu Xianfa extended congratulations on Zambia’s Independence Day and stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Hakainde Hichilema, the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has developed into a model of China-Africa friendship and South-South cooperation. Strongly driven by policies such as zero-tariff treatment, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has continued to yield positive results, with bilateral trade reaching a new high in the first three quarters of this year. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the opening to traffic of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA). Steady progress is being made in revitalizing the railway and developing the prosperity belt along it, which will become a new flagship project for China and Africa to advance modernization together in the new era. China stands ready to work with African friends, including Zambia, to advance the implementation of the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and contribute through concrete actions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Zambian Embassy in China Arthur Kalaluka stated that Zambia deeply cherishes the traditional all-weather friendship between the two countries and appreciates China’s longstanding strong support for Zambia’s economic and social development. Zambia stands ready to work with China to further deepen bilateral relations and jointly promote world peace and prosperity.
